So after my bad experience with the Friday Night Knitting Club, I decided to return to my fantasy/young adult books for comfort. I may be an adult, but apparently my reading level is that of a teenager, lol. So after perusing the Borders in the mall I settles on City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare. It has an edorsement from Stephenie Meyers on the front, so I figured it was worth a shot. I liked it. It was interesting enough that I had to keep reading, although very predictable. The characters in the book are mostly teenagers - so it has a younger feel than the Twilight books. I read the first one and was satified with the ending, and will definitely finish the trilogy but I’m not running out like a madwoman to find the next one (like I did after reading Twilight). So I would give it three stars - if you like Twilight, you will probably like this book. Not definitely, but probably

Next week I’ll finally have a new digiscrap release at Two Peas and a special customer appreciation goody, so watch for that preview probably on Friday For now, I have a couple of jewelry-related business items for ya-
The first thing is very special. It’s a necklace that I made to benefit a clinic that helps out a very special little boy. His name is Zachary and he is the son of my college roommate and her husband (who I introduced her to). Zachary has had a lot of challenges in his life - born with Downs Syndrome and heart problems, he underwent heart surgery very early. As time went by, they realized that there was something wrong with his intestines too and he was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s disease. It’s very rare and Zack has had treatments at the Pediatric Intestinal Rehabilitation Program at Mass General. This September Kristy, John and their friends and family will be running in a race to raise funds for the PIRP. I want to do my part to help donate to their cause so I’ve created this necklace and $10 of each purchase will be donated to their race fundraising site. I will make the donations monthly, with the necklace only available through October 2009, and then post the donation receipts here on my blog. So without further ado, here is the very special necklace… Zachary’s Hope
Please visit my shop to see more pictures of this necklace.
And here are the other regular pieces that I posted yesterday - Octopus Earrings
Okay, this book has totally blindsided me. This could be spoiler ish but all of a sudden I might as well be watching Terms of Endearment. Stupid book. I refuse to finish it now with this turn of events in the book. I’m going to go back to my fluff reading again. Hmph. *crossing my arms and stomping like a 4 year old*
I have been in a book rut lately. I’m not an avid reader, but I do enjoy it. I hate being disappointed though lately, so I’ve rarely picked up a new book. The last new book I tried was Twilight and that just led to a ridiculous obsession with the series. So I’ve been bouncing around bits of Twilight and Harry Potter series. I couldn’t sleep on Friday night and was bouncing around the house and stumbled on this book I bought for a trip to California last year. I never got past the first chapter since entertaining my 3-year-old Alex at the time on the plane turned out to be a full time job.
It’s pretty good. I’m a few chapters and it makes me want to read it constantly. It’s not a quick moving book and it roves from point of view to point of view, which can be a little annoying some times while also great insight at other times. So I guess I’d recommend it to a friend, unless it turns out to have some terrible ending, which I am hoping it doesn’t
I used to go and see them when they’d come around here - I’ve probably seen them in concert maybe half a dozen times. Tonight they had a live show on fuse - and also webcast on hulu.com which was nice for me while I was working. They are actually going to be here this weekend but to tell you the truth the last time I went to a DMB concert, probably in 2005 I felt like an old lady. And I’m not an old lady, LOL. So I LOVE this song here - doesn’t quite come close to All Along the Watchtower, but it is one of my faves and they do it great live
As you may know, I still do design digi scrap stuff, LOL. I know I don’t talk about it much these days, mostly because my muse packed up and left me about a year and a half ago and neither hide nor hair has been seen of her since. I guess she pops in once and while and smiles on me for a moment, but it doesn’t happen nearly as much as I wish it would. So my designing career has mostly been Songbird stuff lately, which I mean, is the point, right? Last night we posted our newest kit, Spring Splendor - with Sausan Designs. Sylvie and I used to sell at SBG together and I love her stuff so it was a joy to get the chance to work with her and the girls this month on this beauty…
So the key is to keep the ball rolling now. I did a couple of pieces tonight for next month’s fun kit and I have a little customer appreciation goodie popping in and out of my head - that’ll be during the middle of the month at 2peas
And then there’s the jewelry - ah the jewelry. This past weekend I went to the Internation Gem Show with my cousins. It was dangerous but I got out alive and only a little bit over budget I found some really great gems and beads and so I will be adding quite a bit of stuff over the next few weeks as well as a very special charity jewelry project for an amazing friend of mine I’m so excited about that, but am not quite ready to unveil that little bit yet Anyways - here is the installment of my newest goodies in my Etsy shop -
